SM Entertainment has addressed the claims made by the legal representative of EXO members Baekhyun, Xiumin and Chen. Earlier today, the trio had notified the company that they would be terminating their contracts due to “mistreatment and unfair contract terms”.In their original statement, through legal representative and lawyer Lee Jae-hak, the three EXO members alleged that SM Entertainment had repeatedly failed to furnish the three K-pop idols with payment data over the past 12 to 13 years.

Baekhyun, Xiumin and Chen, members of the K-pop boyband EXO, have notified SM Entertainment that they are terminating their contracts with the agency.Today (June 1), lawyer Lee Jae-hak, the legal representative for Baekhyun, Xiumin and Chen, said that they trio are terminating their contracts with SM Entertainment due to “mistreatment and unfair contract terms”, per Korea JoongAng Daily.Lee claimed that SM Entertainment had repeatedly failed to furnish the three K-pop idols with data on how they were being paid since they made their debut in 2012. “It is the artist’s most basic right to demand clear and precise proof of how payment has been made, and SM Entertainment is required to abide by the law,” Lee said.

SM Entertainment has released a preview of its upcoming music releases for the third quarter of 2023.Today (May 11), SM Entertainment released an earnings report for the first quarter of 2023. In it, the K-pop agency previewed plans for its line-up of upcoming releases in the next five months, up until the third quarter of the year.According to the report, NCT member Taeyong is set to release his first mini-album in the second quarter of 2023.

EXO member Kai will be holding a free fan meeting event in Seoul next week, ahead of his military enlistment.On May 4, SM Entertainment announced that the EXO singer would be holding a free fan meeting at the Yes24 Live Hall in Seoul next week, following the news of his sudden military enlistment. The event will be held on May 9 at 7pm KST, just two days before Kai is set to enlist.“As the venue has limited space, the event will be free with pre-registration being accepted from members of [EXO’s] official paid fan club [EXO-L-ACE 3, ACE 2].

Kai of K-pop boyband EXO is set to enlist in the military next week.The news was shared by Kai’s label SM Entertainment on May 3, announcing that the K-pop idol will enlist in the South Korean military on May 11. In accordance with South Korean law, all able-bodied men over the age of 18 are required to serve in the military for up to two years.SM Entertainment said that Kai had been preparing new music with boyband EXO, but is set to enlist early “due to a recent change in regulations of the Military Manpower Administration”, per Soompi.

EXO member Sehun has broken his silence on rumours that his alleged girlfriend is pregnant.The rumours surfaced following two anonymous online posts, both of which have been deleted, according to Sports Chosun. The first was reportedly posted by an anonymous individual who claimed to be Sehun’s girlfriend, and was an image of a man with his face covered.

Kai, also a member of the boyband EXO, has performed his new single ‘Rover’ live for the first time.The K-pop idol recently made an appearance on the South Korean music chart show M Countdown on the network Mnet. The performance was his first live performance of ‘Rover’, following the song and its accompanying mini-album’s release on March 13.For his M Countdown appearances, Kai performed on a stage that emulated the hair salon set from the song’s music video.

Kai has confirmed that boyband EXO are currently working on new music.In a recent interview with GQ Magazine UK, the South Korean musician opened up about a comeback for his K-pop boyband EXO. K-pop agency SM Entertainment has previewed its upcoming music release plans for the first half of 2023.On February 20, SM uploaded a report of its earnings for the fourth quarter of 2022 to its official website for investors. In the new report, SM also shared the line-up of comebacks it has scheduled for the first half of 2023.According to the report, April will see the release of Girls’ Generation leader and soloist Taeyeon’s fifth mini-album, the debut of a new NCT sub-unit with their first mini-album as well as girl group aespa’s first-ever full-length album.Meanwhile, veteran boyband SHINee are scheduled to make a comeback with their eighth studio album in May, marking their first group release since their seventh repackaged  album ‘Atlantis’ in April 2021.

SM Entertainment on brand-new artist-themed attractions.According to a report from Korea JoongAng Daily earlier today (September 21), SM Entertainment announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Everland to introduce a space dedicated to content related to the SMCU (SM Culture Universe). The SMCU is a shared universe established by the music label featuring its artists engaged in fictional adventures.The collaboration will see the introduction of new SMCU-themed attractions and rides including “the Hurricane, Bumper Car, Amazon Express and Music Garden”.

EXO’s Xiumin has been cast in a new K-drama titled Sajangdol Mart (literal translation), marking his first role in seven years.On September 14, South Korean news outlet JTBC News reported that the K-pop idol will be starring as the lead in a new K-drama titled Sajangdol Mart. The claims were later confirmed by SM Entertainment in their response via XSports News later that day, as translated by Soompi.Other details regarding the new series, including a premiere date, full cast list and visuals, have yet to be confirmed by the production company behind Sajangdol Mart. According to JTBC News’ original report, Sajangdol Mart will allegedly depict the journeys of several individuals, who were all former K-pop idols, as they endeavour to open and run a supermarket together. The series will reportedly be helmed by director and producer Lee Yoo-yeon, previously known for her work on the web drama Best Mistake. Xiumin’s highly anticipated role in Sajangdol Mart will mark the singer’s first acting project in roughly seven years, since making his acting debut in the 2015 romantic-comedy web series Falling For Challenge. He was involved in that series as its lead, starring alongside Kim So-eun, and subsequently starred in the film Seondal: The Man Who Sells The River that same year, alongside Korean actors Yoo Seung-ho, Cho Jae-hyun, Ko Chang-seok and more.

Bad Prosecutor (literal translation), starring D.O of EXO.The new 30-second teaser trailer was shared on September 14 by the South Korean cable network, and introduces the titular prosecutor Jin Jung (D.O) swaggered into a room with a motorcycle helmet on, while holding a baseball bat. “Do you know what I’ve realised while living this life?” he points out, “To catch bad guys like you, you have to be more vicious.”He begins destroying the contents of the room: throwing his helmet towards the camera and spray-paints it and using his bat to destroy the potted plants sitting on the desk.

EXO member Xiumin will release his debut solo record in September.On August 18, South Korean media outlet News1 published a report claiming Xiumin will debut as a soloist next month with an album. The news was later confirmed through a statement from the K-pop idol’s label, SM Entertainment, via Mydaily.
