Been Stellar have announced their debut LP ‘Scream From New York, NY’ and shared its lead single ‘Passing Judgement’.The NYC five-piece – comprised of frontman Sam Slocum, guitarists Skyler Knapp and Nando Dale, bassist Nico Brunstein and drummer Laila Wayans – shared the first track from their debut LP today (February 29).“Passing judgment without home/ Passing judgment without home/ Once I see how can I hear?/ If you hear, that’s how I know,” sings Slocum in the chorus over distorted, gritty guitars and a pounding drumbeat.Speaking of the track in a press release, the band shared: “We were finishing ‘Passing Judgment’ in the midst of our first tour in the UK. Playing through it a bit differently each show, we were learning to look at the song from different angles.”They continued: “The recording feels live because of this process — there’s a chaotic feeling in the drums and bass that wouldn’t be there if we hadn’t finished writing it live,” shares lead vocalist Sam Slocum, “Lyrically I was thinking about why we judge the world around us, and how passing judgment on someone or something is usually rooted in being unsure in oneself.”Directed by Gabriel Long, the track’s accompanying video features the band performing the song in a posh restaurant while a restaurant guest looks uninterested and disconnected from her conversation.Been Stellar have also announced their signing to independent label Dirty Hit (The 1975, Beabadoobee, Bleachers) and have shared ‘Scream From New York, NY’, their first full length offering from their new label home.

Wolf Alice have moved into the major label world after signing with Columbia Records.The band moved to Columbia after completing their deal with independent Dirty Hit, with whom they released 2015’s ‘My Love Is Cool’, 2017’s ‘Visions Of A Life’ and 2021’s ‘Blue Weekend’.Per BNN, the band’s departure from Dirty Hit “wasn’t abrupt” and was “a calculated move”, which had been reportedly hinted at by their manager, Stephen Taverner, and “met with an understanding nod from Dirty Hit’s Jamie Oborne”. The outlet also reported that Sony Music’s CEO Rob Stringer is known to be an “ardent admirer” of the band.Things have been quiet for Wolf Alice as of late, but their song ‘Don’t Delete The Kisses’ recently made an appearance on the soundtrack of The Boys spin-off Gen V.Guitarist Joff Oddie also appeared at the Featured Artists Coalition’s annual AGM, as part of a panel of artists looking back on 2023 and what challenges and opportunities lie in the year ahead.In September, they played an intimate charity show at London’s Sebright Arms as part of Barnfest, an all-dayer raising money for children’s cancer charity Flynne’s Barn.The show included their cover of Alex G’s ‘Bobby’, which appeared on the deluxe edition of their 2021 album ‘Blue Weekend’, and renditions of The Pogues’ ‘I’m A Man You Don’t Meet Everyday’, Johnny Flynn‘s ‘The Water’ and the traditional American folk song ‘Plastic Jesus’.

Jack Antonoff has announced an extensive new partnership with Dirty Hit, as well as a new venture with its founder and The 1975 manager, Jamie Oborne.The news of the new collaboration and partnership was shared by Variety earlier today (August 21), which also announced Antonoff’s new agreement with Universal Music Publishing Group.According to the outlet, the multifaceted deal will see the Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and producer and his band Bleachers, now managed by Oborne, signed to the latter’s independent label Dirty Hit. The label is also home to The 1975, Rina Sawayama, Wolf Alice, Beabadoobee and moreFollowing the new partnership, Bleachers have announced that they will be sharing a new live album later this week – which will be their first release on Dirty Hit.Titled “Live At Radio City Music Hall,” the LP will be available this Friday (August 25) and can be pre-ordered here.

The multifaceted deal will see Antonoff (pictured above, top) and his band Bleachers being managed by Oborne, with Antonoff and Oborne also launching a new joint venture; in addition, Antonoff’s band Bleachers have signed with Dirty Hit, Oborne’s independent label, which is also home to the 1975, Rina Sawayama, Wolf Alice, Beabadoobee and others.

BLACKSTARKIDS, newly signed to Dirty Hit, have released their nostalgic new single ‘Juno’. You can take a listen to it below.The track comes along with a video directed by the band, and is inspired by the members’ experiences growing up in the 2000s.
