‘Sweet’ German shepherd who was ‘severely underweight’ searching for home after tough year

A ‘sweet’ German shepherd with a big heart is still searching for a forever family after a tough year. Kaiser was found as a stray and taken to Manchester Dogs Home almost a year ago, but simply hasn’t found ‘the one’ just yet.

The eight-year-old pooch arrived at the Harpurhey-based kennels in a ‘severely underweight’ state, weighing under 24kg. The average adult male German shepherd typically weighs between 30kg and 40kg.

After plenty of TLC and a number of vet visits, Kaiser soon began to gain weight, looking ‘much better for it’. A spokesperson for Manchester Dogs Home said: “Kaiser arrived into our care almost a year ago. He's been out before, but got returned.
