Suspect charged with murder after death of 44-year-old man in Worsley

A suspect has been charged with the murder of a 44-year-old man near Worsley last weekend. Tom Gomm died following reports of an assault in Boothstown.

Emergency services were called to Irvine Avenue near Worsley at around 8.15pm on Sunday (December 15). Tom was found with serious injuries and taken to hospital in a critical condition.

He later died in hospital on Tuesday (December 17). Following his death, tributes flooded in for the motorbike enthusiast and mechanic from friends, describing him as a 'legend' and an 'amazing bloke'.

Two scenes were put in place on Leigh Road and adjoining Irvine Avenue after the incident. Greater Manchester Police arrested a suspect on nearby Leigh Road.
