A supermarket worker who was left blind and unable to talk after being drenched with weedkiller had to wait two years to receive the benefits she needed, after being told she wasn’t disabled enough.
Wendy Dykes, 59, said it had been a ‘waking nightmare’ trying to get Personal Independence Payment (PIP) awarded to her, despite suffering life-changing injuries, and had to attend several tribunal hearings to get the payments she was entitled to.
Now, after two years of tribunals, and the help of her local MP, Wendy, from Port Talbot, Wales, has been awarded over £16,000 in PIP back payments.
