WARNING: This post contains spoilers from the Superman & Lois series finale! Superman & Lois came to an end tonight (December 2) after four seasons on The CW.

The series, based on the DC Comics, was the remaining comic book adaptation on the network, and aired an epic finale to conclude the chapter. Tyler Hoechlin and Bitsie Tulloch starred in the show as the title characters, Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane.

Following the finale, the showrunners are explaining why the show ended the way it did. Spoilers ahead. Keep reading to find out more… In the final episode, Clark went head-to-head with Lex Luthor (Michael Cudlitz) and defeated Doomsday with the help of his sons Jordan (Alexander Garfin) and Jonathan (Michael Bishop).

Following the events that went down, Clark hung up his superhero cape, saying goodbye to Superman and focusing on his community and watching his kids grow up.
