'Super courtroom' coming to Manchester Crown Court for cases including gang murder trials

hereIt is the latest scheme to be announced as the criminal justice system responds to the coronavirus.Last week the M.E.N. reported how the Hilton Hotel at Beetham Tower has been transformed into a temporary crown court.It is the latest 'Nightingale' court, with two courts being set up in conference rooms at the Deansgate hotel.The court will deal with cases where defendants are on bail, as there are no custody facilities.The Hilton followed the use of The Lowry theatre as being used as a crown court.Last year three crown courts were opened at the theatre in Salford Quays.The Lord Chancellor, Robert Buckland MP, said: "We have achieved an immense amount in our battle to keep justice moving during the pandemic – restarting jury trials.
