deadline.comStudiocanal has acquired UK and Ireland rights for Ali Abbasi’s Cannes Palme d’Or contender The Apprentice. Billed as an exploration of the underbelly of U.S.
politics, the biographical film stars Sebastian Stan as Donald Trump, Jeremy Strong as firebrand Roy Cohn, Martin Donovan as Fred Trump Sr, and Maria Bakalova as Ivana Trump.
The film is produced by Daniel Bekerman for Scythia Films, Jacob Jarek for Profile Pictures, Ruth Treacy and Julianne Forde for Tailored Films, and Abbasi and Louis Tisné for Film Institute.
