Student given just 12 months to live after routine eye test led to devastating diagnosis

When Laura Nuttall was given a heartbreaking diagnosis after a routine eye test, her life was turned upside down. She discovered she had Glioblastoma Multiforme, an aggressive and incurable form of brain cancer, in 2018.

Laura was later found to have eight tumours, and was told she only had around 12 months to live. The student pulled the breaks on life as she knew it - leaving her university course in London to concentrate on treatment and ticking items off her bucket list.

But when her family discovered an innovative new treatment was available in Germany, Laura was given the chance to begin immunotherapy.

She responded so well to the treatment that she began a new course at the University of Manchester, and now the 22-year-old has hit a milestone she previously would not have thought possible by graduating.
