Actor Stuart Whitman has died at the age of 92. He was best known for starring in The Comancheros alongside John Wayne, 1961 Whitman also received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his work in The Mark in the same year.
Friends of the actor told TMZ he had been in and out of hospital due to skin cancer that seeped into his blood stream. He was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his death at his home in Montecito, California.
Whitman was a star of the silver screen for three decades - with 150 credits to his name - but was most renowned for his Westerns.
In the Comancheros, Whitman played gambler Paul Regret who escapes from prison to be hunted down by Texas Ranger Captain Jake Cutter, played by John Wayne.
