Strictly Come Dancing’s fan favourite movie week got underway on Saturday evening as week three of the competition kicked into full swing.
Tasked with the daunting challenge of being the first to perform, Richie Anderson and Giovanni Pernice were the first couple to take to the floor in an animated Samba performance set to the Lion King classic Hakuna Matata.
Dressed in Timon and Pumba costumes, the lively duo strutted their stuff on the dance floor with plenty of energy and oodles of enthusiasm, even earning them a formidable combined score of 27 from the judges.
Shirley Ballas in particular commended Richie for his “beautiful stationary samba walks” as she openly admitted after that performance she wouldn’t “be able to look at Giovanni the same way again”.
