Ex-Strictly Come Dancing contestant Richard Coles has opened up about finding love again almost four years after losing his beloved husband. The author and clergyman, 61 - who appeared on the toe-tapping BBC competition back in 2017 - lost partner Reverend David Coles three-and a half years ago, following a battle with alcoholism.
But former vicar Richard - who was paired up with Dianne Buswell on the show - recently turned his attention to dating site Elite Singles in the hope of finding someone, and just months later, he has announced he's now in a brand new romantic relationship.
Speaking to the Sunday Times, he explained: "I wanted to go on a website where I would meet someone who was not looking for a sugar daddy, who was my age, who lived in my sort of world, who I could share my life with." Richard announced that he and new beau 58-year-old Dickie Cant - the son of late actor and Play Away host Brian Cant - had struck up a close relationship online, which later blossomed into something deeper after they met in-person.
Saying it was in fact Dickie that made the first move - having sent Richard a "waving hello" on the dating site - Richard revealed that the pair had enjoyed their first date at the Royal Horticultural Society, where they both experienced a mutual attraction.
