The contestant and his professional dance partner Amy Dowden performed a Viennese waltz to Lauren Daigle's song Rescue. But the dance could have been contributing to his agony this week, as he secretly battled an injury before and during his time on the show.
Viewers would never have known though, as he and Amy performed a stunning routine that left many moved. JJ himself was emotional as he missed his family, before being shown a clip of his young daughter dancing along to his performance.
