Strictly Come Dancing's Janette Manrara has opened up about her and husband Giovanna Fletcher's journey to parenthood, revealing that Aljaz had fatherhood on his mind from the very beginning.
Speaking on Giovanna Fletcher's Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast, Janette shared: "Well, literally the first date that we had, the first thing Aljaz said basically was: 'I can't wait to be a dad.'" She admitted that she wasn't initially on the same page, saying: "That was like on day one in the conversation.
And I had a very different story. If I'm honest, I actually sat my mother down and said to her: 'Mum, I don't think I'm going to be a mum.'" The 41 year old American dancer explained that her career and travel goals made her hesitant about motherhood.
But now, with daughter Lyra Rose in their lives, she feels they are a 'massive team' and everything 'works really well'. Reflecting on her change of heart, Janette concluded: "But luckily, I think I chose that I did want to be a mother and I did want to have a child because I found the right person to do that with." The It Takes Two presenter also expressed how meeting Aljaz changed her perspective: "For me, it stems from 'I think I do want to be a mother, but it has to be with the right person.
