Former Emmerdale star Adam Thomas is set to join a star-studded Strictly Come Dancing line-up for its 2023 series this year, joining other soap icons such as Bobby Brazier, Nigel Harman and Ellie Leach.But shortly after the 35-year-old actor was unveiled as part of the line-up he took to social media to reveal he has been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and penned a heartfelt tribute to his family for all their support.Adam, also known for his role in BBC's Waterloo Road, announced the news on his social media.
The NHS describes rheumatoid arthritis as a 'long-term condition that causes pain, swelling and stiffness in the joints’ with the main affected areas being the hands, feet and wrists,' which can make even everyday tasks more of a challenge.The dad-of-two said he had been suffering from pain for eight months and finally got a diagnosis after a battle with his doctors for answers.
He spoke about the issue candidly to his one million fans on Instagram on Thursday night.Adam is married to wife of six years Caroline Daly and the couple share two children, Teddy and Elsie-Rose.
