John, who won the third series of the Great British Bake Off in 2012, triumphed again as the pair danced a super-slick cha cha to Starstruck by Years and Years on the BBC dance show.
As they left the dancefloor they were met by host Tess Daly, from Stockport, who mentioned his home town.
