The new series of Strictly Come Dancing is odds-on to make history by featuring its first ever same-sex couple. Leading bookmakers have the chances as short as 10/11 for the BBC show to follow the lead of Dancing On Ice.

Steps singer Ian 'H' Watkins took to the ice on the ITV skating show with pro dancer Matt Eve in what was seen as a big nod to diversity.

Bookies now believe it is likely to happen on the beeb - and have also released odds for a same-sex couple hitting the dancefloor revealing it currently stands at 10/11.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "Dancing On Ice made history earlier this year with their first ever same-sex couple and it looks as though Strictly could well follow suit." BBC bosses are rumoured to be lining up
