Strictly star Shayne Ward is set to make a shock soap comeback – six years after he quit the Corrie cobbles. The 39 year old former X Factor winner left Weatherfield back in 2018 when his character, Aidan Connor, was killed off.
But in news that will delight his fans, the BBC has confirmed he is set to take on a new role, this time alongside his stunning real-life fiancée, Sophie Austin.
Shayne, who was yesterday criticised by fans for being 'cocky' during Saturday's first live Strictly Come Dancing show – something he furiously denied – began his life in the public eye with his 2005 X Factor win.
He went on to enjoy chart success with singles including That's My Goal, which was a Christmas No.1 and No Promises. At one point he was tipped to join Take That after band member Jason Orange quit, but instead went on to play Aidan in Coronation Street, winning a National Television Award in 2016.
