Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has provided a brave update amid completing her fifth round of chemotherapy. The dancer has been candidly sharing her journey after being diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year.
Amy, who has been a part of the BBC One dance contest since 2017, announced in June she had been diagnosed with cancer and underwent a mastectomy and reconstruction after receiving her diagnosis.
The surgery came after she discovered a lump in her right breast before going on honeymoon with her husband Ben Jones. The Caerphilly-born dancer then later confirmed after her surgery that doctors found another type of cancer which she described as a “massive blow” as it meant she would not be able to compete in Strictly this year as she'd have to undergo chemotherapy. "Hello all.
So bloods are good, chemo on Thursday," she said. "So we’re making bone broth and in the morning we’re going to do ginger and lemon shots. "Obviously nutrition is [always] really important, never mind when you’re going through chemotherapy." She then returned to Instagram on Thursday (September 28) as she posted a mirror selfie.
