Viewers of Strictly Come Dancing have jumped to defend Chris McCausland following the semi-finals, which they felt included an 'offensive' gesture from the judges. The comedian and his dance pro Dianne Buswell were visibly moved following their two performances on Saturday night's show (7 December). They began their bid for a spot in the final with a Charleston that earned them 33 points and ended it with an emotional Viennese Waltz, netting them 36 points.
A tearful Dianne later shared her admiration for Chris's journey and said: "I have taught Chris this whole time without a single visual cue," reports the Manchester Evening News.
She added that despite not being able to watch himself dance or see his competition, Chris had embraced the essence of the show.
Dianne said: "He's never been able to watch a dance back to see if he's done a great job or to look at anything and go, 'Maybe I can improve on that!' "He's never been able to see any of his competitors, see what the competition is like, he's had none of that yet he's seen this competition so well because he's captured the spirit of this show." However, Strictly viewers were left scratching their heads after Chris's performance. They felt that his scores were too close to Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystal's, despite both having no dance background.
