A street was taped off by police after a woman was found seriously injured on the pavement after a reported car crash. Officers erected a large cordon on Graythorpe Walk in Salford on Monday afternoon.
The nature of the incident has not been confirmed by police but neighbours claimed the woman had been hit by a car. One resident who was carrying out DIY nearby reported hearing a 'thud' and went to see what had happened.
He told how he was confronted by a woman lying on the pavement and covered in blood. "I just heard this thud, I ran round," he said. "This girl was on the floor covered in blood. "Its hit her with some force," he said.
She was unresponsive and after a few minutes the ambulance service arrived. Other neighbours had come out of their homes to assist her.
