An easyJet flight into Glasgow was forced into an aborted landing this afternoon due to high winds linked to Storm Dudley. Glasgow Live reports that flight EZY191G from Bristol attempted to land at Glasgow Airport around 3:55pm but was forced to take off again while on final approach.

Flightradar24 live tracking data shows the plane quickly gained altitude to a height of around 5,000 feet after aborting its first attempt at touchdown just 2,250 feet from the ground. The airliner performed a sweeping 'go-around' manoeuvre in the skies above Strathclyde, taking in Paisley, Newton Mearns, Coatbridge and Cumbernauld before heading back towards the airport. It subsequently landed safely at the second attempt at 4:09pm, nine minutes behind schedule.

The close shave comes amid a Met Office amber weather warning for high winds in central Scotland as a result of Storm Dudley.

The warning, which came into force at 2pm this afternoon and stretches as far north as Stirling, remains in place until midnight tonight.A yellow alert is also in place for regions of the country as far north as Stonehaven.
