Police have been granted extra stop and search powers into this evening after a string of 'unrelated inciedents' including a serious assault in Harpurhey.
A 35-year-old man has been arrested following the attack, which took place at 9pm on Carisbrook Street on Saturday (September 23).
The victim is said to have suffered a serious head injury that is not believed to be life threatening. Officers also uncovered a 'large knife' which was hidden near to Harpurhey Shopping Centre.
