'Stolen' Mercedes smashes into house in Abbey Hey

A suspected stolen car smashed into the front of an east Manchester house. Emergency services descended on Harrop Street, in Abbey Hey, at around 6.15am this morning (Saturday, January 25).

Greater Manchester Police said the car was reported stolen from a house on nearby Butterton Drive. Images from the scene show the front of the Harrop Street property severely damaged after black Mercedes-Benz careered into it.

No injuries have been reported. GMP said a 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary; and a number of driving offences.

Police are trying to find a second man believed to have fled the scene. Officers, firefighters, council staff and Cadent gas engineers all remain in the area this morning to make the scene safe.
