It is still too early to start easing lockdown measures in the UK, ministers have warned. The government initially said the measures would be reviewed after three weeks when they announced strict orders for people to stay at home on March 23.
But ministers have now made it clear that restrictions will not be eased until the number of new cases of coronavirus in the UK begins to decline.
Health minister Edward Argar told BBC Breakfast: “We need to start seeing the numbers coming down and that’s when you’re in the negative. “That’s when you have a sense when that’s sustained over a period of time, that you can see it coming out of that. “We’re not there yet and I don’t exactly know when we will be.
