She is Scotland’s nosiest neighbour and able to give wayward pensioners Jack and Victor a run for their money.Jane McCarry, who plays Craiglang gossip Isa Drennan, will be spilling the beans about BBC Scotland’s long-running sitcom Still Game at Stirling’s Macrobert next week.McCarry will be joined by fellow Still Game cast members: Gavin Mitchell (Boabby), Paul Riley (Winston), Sanjeev Kohli (Navid) and Mark Cox (Tam) for the show People Huv Tae Know.Over the years Isa has been through the school of hard knocks, but despite this – in an interview with the Observer this week – McCarry revealed that Isa would have had her finger on the pulse and would be a strong supporter of the Me Too movement.McCarry said: “She’d be right up there with her placard.
Absolutely she would. The way she was treated by Harry her husband wasn’t great.“I don’t think she’d let anybody take advantage of her.“If she was speaking to a younger lassie.
She’d be saying good for you hen.”And McCarry dropped a hint that Isa has a softer side - and a secret passion for her married boss, cornershop owner Navid Harrid whose wife Meena (Shamshad Akhtar) is never far away.McCarry said her love interest was not for widowers Jack or Victor, adding: “I think Isa and Winston would do well together...if he could tolerate her.
But her passion? It would have to be Navid.”Isa is based on a number of characters McCarry has met down the years – or while out and about people watching.“I used to like going to the Bingo sometimes, but I wouldn’t play Bingo.
