On a glorious, autumnal day at Greenlaw, Stewartry under-16s ran out winners against local rivals Wigtownshire. Right from the start, it was apparent that the defensive practises to put pressure on the opposition were going to pay dividends as, from turnover ball in the middle of the park, Stewartry attacked through their big ball carriers Carson McCallum and Rudi van Heerden, finishing the move with McCallum scoring the first try.
Soon after, Arthur Moodie tiptoed down the right wing to score after an aggressive ruck turnover from Jamie McIvor. McIvor scored one of his own when, from a Shire lineout close to their line, Stewartry defensive pressure forced a try-line fumble which he pounced on.
The next try came after a Shire scrum was dominated by the Stewartry pack, Clark Bryson at loosehead getting in and under his much bigger opponent, forcing another turnover.
From there Bryson, quick in support, drove the ball on and offloaded to Finlay Campbell who burst through three tacklers to score near the posts.
