Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
Steven Gerrard is the man who will replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, according to John Arne Riise. The managerial game of cat and mouse has been in the headlines for weeks, but things took a turn for the dramatic on Monday when the German FA announced that Joachim Low will step down after this summer's Euros.
That breathed life into claims that Klopp, whose Liverpool team have all but yielded the Premier League title to Manchester City, could step aside in the summer and manage his country. Were he to do so then Reds legend Gerrard is expected to be one of the Anfield club's top targets to take the reins, after he won the first league title of his career with Rangers over the weekend.
