Steven Gerrard has revealed he sought the advice of legendary Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson after being sacked by Aston Villa in October 2022.
Gerrard had initially impressed in the West Midlands following his appointment in November 2021, steering the club away from the relegation zone to a 14th-placed finish after taking over from Dean Smith.
Things took a turn for the worse in Gerrard's first full season in charge after securing only two wins from the opening 12 league fixtures of the 2022/23 campaign, resulting in his dismissal and Unai Emery's arrival.
The former Liverpool midfielder landed his next job in management at Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq last summer, having taken close to a year out of the game to recover from his first major setback as a coach.
