Steven Gerrard responded to Aston Villa fans booing him and his team after a third defeat in their opening four league games.

The home fans were vociferous in making their feelings known as loud boos greeted the final whistle after another winless 90 minutes for Gerrard and his men. "I’ve got two ears so I heard the fans' frustrations,” he said. “Last time I checked my ears are still working so I picked up everything," said Gerrard. "I’ve been in the game long enough that if you lose three games out of four, it’s not the start the supporters want or what I want.
