Steven Gerrard in Poland pathway to England job claim as ex Rangers boss touted as Gareth Southgate successor

The Liverpool legend skippered his country and won 114 caps during a glittering International career. The 42-year-old emerged as a shock candidate to replace Czeslaw Michniewicz after his contract wasn’t renewed following Poland’s World Cup last-16 elimination, with the Polish FA said to be looking to make an appointment by the end of this month.
They face Czech Republic in their opening Euro 2024 qualifier in March. Gerrard was sacked by Aston Villa in October where he has been succeeded Unai Emery after leaving Ibrox for the Midlands giants having led Rangers to their first Scottish Premiership title in a decade.
The Times say he is currently taking some time out in Dubai on a family break but the report states “were he to do well in Poland in the next 18 months, it could boost his claims for the England job whenever Gareth Southgate steps aside.” Southgate is enjoying great popularity as England boss and is contracted to lead his country through to Germany 2024.
