Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
Rangers clash with Lech Poznan. With their place in the last 32 secured, the Ibrox side have the chance to beat Benfica to top spot in Group D with a win in Poland tomorrow night.
With that comes the chance to earn a £900K bonus for the club with a victory going into the next round. However, Gerrard only wants to win the group for professional pride rather than adding to the coffers.
The boss said at his press conference today: "We are coming here to play football and focus on football. In terms of the financial side, that is for other people to deal with."I don't think it is important for me to focus on the financials, or the players."We want to top the group, that is our objective and our priority.
