Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Steven Gerrard admits he's braced for a backlash after crashing out of the Betfred Cup to St Mirren.The Ibrox club were on a 27 match unbeaten run going into the game but fell to a 3-2 defeat to miss out on the first chance of silverware this season.The Rangers boss fronted up after the match and insisted he should be the target of the inevitable criticism that's to come.Gerrard told Premier Sports: "I'll take this for the players because what they've given me from the beginning of the season has been absolutely outstanding."We just never performed well enough to get the result we wanted and go through."They deserved it, they scored three goals against us.
