Steve Kornacki Strikes New Deal With NBC News And Sports, Will Leave MSNBC Role As Spinoff Nears

Steve Kornacki has signed a new deal with NBC that will keep him working at the network in its news and sports divisions. Kornacki, a popular presence on the network’s coverage of polling data and election results, will be winding down his role at MSNBC.

The news network is being spun off from Comcast along with other cable channels, and Kornacki now will focus on a role with NBC News‘ Meet the Press and political coverage and NBC Sports.

Kornacki’s new title will be contributor and chief data analyst, NBC News and NBC Sports, a network spokesperson confirmed. The Los Angeles Times first reported on Kornacki’s new deal.

MSNBC is in the process of building up its own news division, with plans to hire more than 100 news journalists as it severs from Comcast.
