Ecstastic Steve Clarke broke out into the biggest smile of his life as he confessed he was never in doubt Lyndon Dykes’ goal would stand.
The Scotland manager guided his side to the brink of a World Cup qualifying playoff with a breathless comeback win over Israel at Hampden.
Clarke’s team were staring down the barrel of defeat but hopes were boosted when QPR striker Dykes stabbed the ball into the net.However, the referee initially ruled it out before consulting with VAR.
And Clarke has admitted he feared not for one second the goal would be good after Dykes had earlier failed to smash home a penalty.
