Steve Bruce has told out-of-contract kid Matty Longstaff to sign a new “fantastic” deal at Newcastle. The Geordie midfielder has verbally agreed to play on after his current £50k-a-year apprentice contract ends in June.
But he currently has a thigh injury and won't figure against Sheffield United or Aston Villa. Longstaff has a £35k-a-week offer from Serie A side Udinese, and could be loaned to Watford if he makes that move.
Newcastle have come close to matching that offer and Bruce has stepped in to the dispute and says Longstaff jnr should stay on Tyneside.
