Stephen Robinson believes St Mirren’s men in reserve are just as important as the starting XI he’ll put into battle at Celtic Park this evening.

The Buddies head to Glasgow well-drilled and ready for their toughest assignment of the season so far. And diligent Saints boss Robinson pointed to his experienced midfielder Ryan Flynn and left-back deputy Thierry Small as key examples of the men behind the scenes that have set the standards in training and kept their team-mates battling for a starting spot.

Robinson feels the determined work ethic throughout his squad is the key behind the Paisley club sitting pretty in third spot in the Premiership table ahead of tonight’s exciting clash against the Hoops.

He told Renfrewshire Live Sport: “Me and Brendan [Rodgers] have had some good battles. He beat me in a couple of cup finals as well, which I haven’t forgotten!“We face a very difficult task.
