Stephen Robinson tonight saluted his brilliant Buddies after St Mirren clinched a top-six spot and set their sights on Europe. The Paisley Saints secured top-six Premiership football for a second successive season thanks to a favour in Edinburgh from the Perth Saints. At a windswept SMiSA Stadium, Jorge Grant's penalty and a Mikael Mandron own goal put Hearts 2-0 up before Toyosi Olusanya's sixth of the season gave the Buddies hope.Defeat here only mattered, though, if Hibernian could beat St Johnstone at Easter Road.

However, goals from Adama Sidibeh and Tony Gallacher earned the Perth men a 2-1 victory which eased their relegation play-off fears and ensured the Buddies could celebrate back-to-back top-half finishes.

It’s maybe not the way Robinson and his men would have preferred to get the job done – but after putting in so much hard work to get to this point, a wee push over the line was richly deserved.

And now the club’s focus can turn on trying to bring European football back to Renfrewshire for the first time since 1987.Renfrewshire Live, the new free app dedicated to bringing you around the clock breaking news, is now available to download.Powered by the Paisley Daily Express, Renfrewshire Live is your go-to source for news, features and sport with live coverage provided direct to the app, seven days a week. The dedicated team of experienced journalists, responsible for the publication of the award-winning Express, will focus on breaking news, day and night, across Renfrewshire’s towns and villages. There is also a dedicated St Mirren section that will follow every kick of the ball with the Buddies.
