Stephen Robinson admits St Mirren’s tough summer recruitment drive saw them spend a month hitting brick walls. The Buddies boss had to be patient as the club tried to convince prospective players to make the switch to Paisley.
After several near misses, the Saints finally did make a breakthrough – with their current tally of new recruits now sitting at four with one more confirmed but yet to be announced.
And Robinson feels his squad are more prepared now for the long campaign ahead after bringing in what he believes are quality reinforcements.
He told the Paisley Daily Express: “It’s been a tough summer. We’ve spent the last month hitting brick walls. We had numerous offers for players turned down.“We’re trying to improve the team and replace players who have done well for us with the same playing budget.“The board have been very good in giving us a transfer fee for one player, which has gone on Conor McMenamin.
