Stephen Robinson admits St Mirren’s transfer budget well has truly run dry. The Buddies boss would still love to bring in reinforcements this month before the window slams shut – particularly at left-back and up front where the club could find themselves in bother should they be hit by injuries to key players.Scott Tanser remains the only experienced left-back in the squad, while Mikael Mandron is the Saints’ sole physical target man up front.
Robinson explained players would have to move away from Paisley first to free up the budget to bring in any additional cover.
And while not ruling out that possibility, the gaffer insists the club cannot overspend this season as they continue to recover from a shock seven-figure loss that was announced in January.Robinson told Renfrewshire Live Sport: “At the moment there’s no more money to do anything with. “So, it’s a case that to bring someone in, there would have to be someone going out.“We run with a very, very small squad.
It’s 19 outfield players we’ve got and there’s kids in amongst that as well.“We are always in danger of getting a couple of injuries, which every team is, in a couple of key positions.“We know which positions we want to add depth and strength in.“There’s still a little way to go before the end of the window.
