Stephen Robinson dedicated his side’s success over Aberdeen to St Mirren’s band of super snow shovellers. The Buddies gaffer admitted the club staff and volunteers who swept the pitch clear were the heroes as the Paisley outfit ran out 2-1 winners at the weekend.

Referee John Beaton gave the green light for a 4pm kick-off after enough hard work was done to prepare the surface and make surrounding areas safe.

Robbo is grateful to everyone who stepped up when it mattered most — and was thrilled his players rewarded them with a great performance and three points. “We have to dedicate the win to all the volunteers that came in and worked tirelessly,” he said. “We said the amount of effort and work that’s been put in to get this game on from people that aren’t getting paid, we owe them a performance.
