Soap actress Stephanie Davis has revealed she suffered an eating disorder while starring on Hollyoaks in her early twenties.

The CBB star, 29, said the pressure to look good amongst her peers was so intense she started making herself sick. Speaking exclusively to OK!, Steph said: “When I joined Hollyoaks they used to do the Hollyoaks calendar, and the girls took it so seriously it shocked me. “At the time, I was just eating Easter eggs and drinking Red Bull for breakfast, and they were all really restricting to extremes, and training,” she explained. “As I was so young, I looked up to them and thought, ‘Do I need to do that?’ Get exclusive celebrity stories and fabulous photoshoots straight to your inbox with OK!'s daily newsletter. "I did have an unhealthy relationship with food at one point, and I did make myself sick sometimes.Thankfully, it didn’t carry on and turn into something really serious,” she said.

Stephanie, who played Sinead O’Connor in the C4 soap, said the experience in 2010 was the first time she became truly concerned with her body image.

Aged 21, she underwent her first cosmetic procedure and had Botox, something she now regrets. “I used to get Botox when I was younger when I didn’t need it, because I was in Hollyoaks and everyone was getting it, so I thought I needed it, too,” she admitted. “My mum thought it was outrageous. That’s one thing that I can’t bear about this industry – it’s so self-obsessed. “People base validations on outside appearance, likes on Instagram and comments, but beauty comes from within.
