Perth -based bus operator Stagecoach has announced that the wheels are in motion towards the opening of its new customer contact centre in the Fair City.
The new one-stop phone and digital contact point for customers will be based at the company’s existing headquarters on Dunkeld Road and is set to open in the spring.
The senior leadership team and team leaders have recently been appointed and recruitment is now underway for 60 new customer service advisors.The move comes after the £470m takeover of Stagecoach by rivals National Express was agreed in December - sparking fears locally over the future of its Fair City headquarters.The proposed merger is expected to be completed in late 2022, meaning National Express shareholders will own approximately 75 per cent of the group, but is subject to shareholder approval.As a result of the landmark deal, however, the group will be headquartered at National Express’s home in Birmingham.
But the recruitment drive for the contact centre is set to ensure a continued presence of Stagecoach in Perth, with Julie Wilson announced as head of customer service.
