Stacey Dooley has opened up about her concerns her relationship with Kevin Clifton would be seen as a ‘cliché’ amid rumours of the Strictly curse.

The couple met after being partnered together on the 2018 series of Strictly Come Dancing, but despite being friends first, Stacey was worried the way they met would meant they were labelled with the Strictly curse forever.

When she began the series, Stacey had been in a relationship with Sam Tucknott, but insists her romance with Kevin, 37, started long after they broke up.

Stacey, 33, told BBC Radio 5’s Headliners podcast: ‘I didn’t want to be such a cliché – it’s so cringe and cheesy. I want to be cooler than this. ‘Kev and I were pals for such a long time.
