St Mirren stalwart Ryan Flynn ranks current squad as 'strongest ever' ahead of Hibs clash

Ryan Flynn has seen plenty of St Mirren squads built up, dismantled and started again during his lengthy spell in Paisley. Currently the club’s longest-serving player after joining way back in January 2018, the experienced midfielder is well-placed to give an opinion on the strength and quality of the current team boss Stephen Robinson has managed to build.

So, when asked to rank his current group of high-flying Buddies, the former Sheffield United star’s answer couldn’t have been much more emphatic.

Speaking exclusively to the Paisley Daily Express ahead of this Wednesday night's clash with Hibs, Flynn said: “This is definitely the strongest squad I’ve ever been involved with at St Mirren. “I think our opposition know that as well.“The players we can bring on now are really affecting the game and having a strong impact.“The best thing is that even when players are disappointed at not being in the starting XI, they don’t show that at all.“Everyone just tries to do their talking on the pitch, while also supporting whoever is in the team.“I think that’s why we’ve started the season so well and if we can maintain that across the whole season, it could be a special one.“Throughout the whole squad, everyone is ready to fight.“Bad runs can come throughout a campaign so we’ve got to be ready for that.“You can see from the goalscorers, too, they’ve been spread around the whole team.

It’s a real team and squad effort at the moment.“Everything is so well-drilled and we know what’s needed from everyone.“Everyone works their socks off and pulls together to make the system work.” The Buddies currently sit proudly in third after a superb start to the season, with manager Robinson and his assistant Diarmuid O’Carroll picking up
