Zach Hemming revealed former Saints captain Joe Shaughnessy unwittingly helped him make his crucial penalty save against Dundee.The St Mirren keeper was called into action to keep his side ahead on Saturday after Shaughnessy’s own goal had put the hosts in front.With Zach Robinson about to step up from the spot after Mikael Mandron’s shirt pull on Lee Ashcroft, Shaughnessy got a message to the taker that Buddies goalkeeping coach Jamie Langfield knew the side the Dundee forward was likely to take.That allowed Hemming to get in the taker’s head, with the keeper outfoxing Robinson to make a pivotal stop that helped the Paisley side eventually seal all three points.Delighted Hemming explained to the Paisley Daily Express: “I’ve got a good record with penalty saves and made a few at Kilmarnock.

But I’ll put that one down to Langers.“He told me he knew Robinson was going to go to the right. He always looks back and reviews everyone’s penalties.“But one of the boys from Dundee has told him [Robinson] that Langers has told me which way he was going!“I never saw Trevor talking to him, but I did see the Dundee captain [Shaughnessy] running up and telling the taker I knew where he was going.“So, I told him he was going to go that way and he ended up going the other way.
