Building to be the best in Scotland. That’s the lofty ambition of St Mirren youth director Allan McManus as the club’s academy jumps up into the elite tier this month alongside the likes of Celtic, Rangers, Hearts and Hibs.
The Buddies have been working hard behind the scenes for the last two years as they’ve pushed towards driving the Paisley club into the top bracket of youth football in Scotland.And as that dream becomes a reality this month, academy boss McManus insists the Saints won’t rest on their laurels.
Having produced the likes of Scotland stars John McGinn, Kenny McLean and Lewis Morgan at Ralston in recent years, as well as seeing midfield prospects Ethan Erhahon and Dylan Reid called up to Scotland Under-21 and Under-17 sides
