Rugby Park has been a happy hunting ground for St Johnstone WFC this season. And head coach Grant Scott reckons recording two wins at the Ayrshire venue in 2022 just goes to show how far his side has come. The latest success story against Kilmarnock - following on from a January 4-1 triumph - arrived on Sunday thanks to a 2-1 Scottish Women’s Premier League 2 victory.Skipper Nicola Jameison led by example to plant a second half header into the back of the net before youngster Alex Robson doubled the advantage with a cool finish.Reflecting on the result in what was Saints’ penultimate match of the campaign, Scott said: “Going to Rugby Park twice in a season and coming away with two wins just shows how far the team has come.”He added: “I don’t think you’ll see a better headed goal direct from a corner.

Nicola rose really well and timed her leap.“She has done really well for us. She is still young and learning. Physically and athletically, she has so many strengths.“I’m really delighted she was able to get us up and running because it was, obviously, important to get the first goal.“And Alex has come off the bench again and scored.

The pleasing thing was that she read the situation.“From a wide position, she found herself narrow centrally in the pitch for a great ball across from Morgan (Steedman).“Alex is ice cool in front of goal.

She does it in training and now a couple of times in games too.“You try and claim the credit for making changes in games. But joking apart, I’m very big on the fact we are a squad.“I’ve got to pay huge credit to the full squad.
