St Helens have suffered a serious injury blow after forward James Bentley was ruled out for an extended period due to a broken leg.
Bentley was stretchered off in the Saints’ victory against Leigh Centurions on Friday night, and the reigning Super League champions have now confirmed the extent of his injuries, with damage to his ankle, as well as his leg.
However, while the injuries are not thought to be season-ending, coach Kristian Woolf admitted it will be a while yet before Bentley - who has become a prominent figure in the Saints side of late - is back, with no date pencilled in for his return to action. “Obviously it is not good news,” Woolf said. “He does have a break in his leg and there is a bit of damage to his ankle as well.Read more on manchestereveningnews.co.uk
