Squid Game is returning to Netflix sooner than you might have thought. The Korean smash will return for its third and final season on June 27.
This is only six months after season two launched on the streamer on Boxing Day. While many expected the dystopian drama to perhaps get another Christmas bow, the fact that seasons two and three were filmed at the same time has allowed Netflix to return to the world quickly.
The move could also bolster Squid Game’s Emmy chances as the third season will be airing during the voting window for the second season, much like The Bear was last year.
It comes after the second season got off to a great start, becoming Netflix’s third most-watched season of television ever. [SPOILER ALERT] The third and final season follows Gi-Hun (Lee Jung-Jae) after losing his best friend in the game and being driven to utter despair by The Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), who hides his true identity to infiltrate the gam.
